SPECIAL MEMORIAL – John Thornley
DATE and TIME – Friday 12th January 2024 at 12 noon.

Some of you will have known John Thornley who died last month. John was the brains behind the Henley Schools Environmental Science Competition and a very keen supporter of getting children to think about their environment and how to improve it.
This competition has been taken over as the Greener Henley Environmental Science Challenge for Schools – a popular and inspiring annual event in the Greener Henley calendar.
There is to be a special memorial to celebrate John’s life at the River and Rowing Museum on Friday 12th January at 12 noon. There is a very nice obituary of John in this week’s Henley Standard. See www.henleystandard.co.uk
The Wildlife Working Group will be meeting next on Wednesday January 24th 9.30 – 12.30 at Holy Trinity Churchyard (RG9 1SE). Bring gardening gloves, garden shears and garden rakes (the metal ones used for raking up leaves would be best). Tasks will be cutting more grass around the gravestones and raking it up.
