Let’s create a nature corridor through Henley and beyond!
Nature Squared is a simple nature recovery campaign.
We’re inviting local residents and organisations to plant one square metre of plants for pollinators and help us reach our goal to link 5000 m² of local nature habitat by the end of 2030.
Nature recovery starts on our doorsteps, in our gardens, balconies, outdoor pots and public spaces. By planting even a single square metre for pollinators, each of us helps create a living network of habitats that supports bees, butterflies and other insects, strengthens local biodiversity, and creates more space for nature in and around the town.
1m² – individually small, but together powerful.
Let’s get together and get growing!

How to Take Part.
Taking part is easy – simply plant 1 square metre of plants for pollinators in your garden, school grounds, office garden, balcony – wherever you can find an outdoor space – and register your m² on our website. That’s it!

Why do pollinators need our help?
Nature in the UK is hugely in decline and we need to give it much more space and consideration.
Pollinators are often portrayed as bees, but in fact birds, bats, bees, butterflies, beetles, and small mammals all pollinate plants and are jointly responsible for bringing us one out of every three bites of food!
They also sustain our ecosystems and produce our natural resources by helping plants reproduce and without them our food supply would be at risk – so let’s get growing!

Do you need some help to help them?

Share the Good News for Nature
Once you’ve registered, why not take our Get Wildlife-Friendly pledge and let people know you’re helping look after nature locally with Nature Squared.
Free plants and seeds
We are offering free seed packets to anyone who would like to take part. These can be collected from the Town Hall, Henley. If you would like to register for some young plants to help get your first square metre established (dependant on availability and time of year), email us at [email protected]
No space – or no spare time to plant? No problem!
We want to involve our whole community in Nature Squared – and that means finding ways for everyone to take part. We are looking to join up people, organisations, businesses and schools, with spaces and opportunities for planting, bringing people together to take practical, local action for nature recovery. Get in touch if you have a space for plants but can’t do the planting – we might be able to help.

Plant Parents & Plant Fosterers
Nature Squared offers a variety of volunteer roles – like Plant Parents & Plant Fosterers who are sowing seeds and nurturing plants for distribution within the wider Henley community to help people get their first square metre started.
If you’d like to be involved by volunteering in any way – planting for someone who can’t do it themselves, being a Plant Parent or Plant Fosterer, helping at our Plant Giveaways, helping with admin, or offering a space where other people can come and plant – get in touch and let’s get growing for Henley’s wildlife!

Nature Squared is a joint partnership between Greener Henley, Henley Town Council and the Henley Standard
Greener Henley is able to deliver this campaign thanks to the generous support of the Louis Baylis Charitable Trust, Henley Town Council, and the SODC Councillor Community Fund.
