Carbon capture and storage
Jon Blyton

Since the industrial revolution, human activity has shifted the carbon cycle. The global average surface temperature is rising twenty times more quickly than at any time in the last two million years and the international panel for climate change has stated that the changes are almost certainly anthropogenic, driven by the burning of fossil fuels.

Carbon capture is seen as one of the many solutions to reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Jon will explore the various engineering challenges of carbon capture and storage.

Jon Blyton is Principal Engineer, Intelligent Operations, Wood UK Ltd. He graduated from the University of Strathclyde in Chemical and Process Engineering and spent many years working for Chevron, followed by spells in engineering software and consultancy. Since 2020, he has increasingly worked on energy transition projects and carbon capture and storage projects, including one of the world’s largest in the Middle East.
