Flooding can affect anyone, anywhere – are you ready?

Flooding can affect anyone, anywhere – are you ready?

Being prepared for flooding can bring peace of mind and help protect our homes, streets and community. Small practical steps – taken early – can make a big difference when heavy rain and flooding hit.

Planning ahead can reduce the impact of flooding on lives, homes and property, while helping communities respond better and recover more quickly.

  • Check your property’s flood risk by looking at the long term flood risk map (Look at both “Rivers and Sea Map” & “Surface Water Map”, click on ‘Yearly chance of flooding between 2040 and 2060’, select ‘Extent’)
  • Tell others about the flood risk map and get them to check their risk too
  • Sign up for Environment Agency flood alerts (not available for flash flooding)
  • Check out the information on our Flood page covering how to prevent, prepare, respond and recover from a flood
  • Download and share the Greener Henley Flood Actions PDF
  • Becoming a local flood warden or helping to set up a flood action group can help you play an important role in building community resilience to flooding.
