The Big Green Conversation: Our River
The Big Green Conversation: Our River, with speakers + Q&A
The Kenton Theatre – 7.30-8.50pm
Wednesday 22nd January, 2025
Tickets £10 (incl fees)
River pollution has been a hot topic in the media in recent months, but what is actually being done to restore our river’s health? What’s it like to swim in the Thames these days – and is it safe? Can citizen scientists testing the water quality really make a difference? How is local wildlife coping with repeated pollution events, and is there anything we can do locally to better protect it?
Join Greener Henley and a stellar panel of experts who will address these questions and more at our first ever Big Green Conversation in partnership with The Kenton Theatre. There will be ample time for audience questions and answers at this evening of thought-provoking and lively discussion about a VERY local issue! Our panel includes:
- Dr Imogen Grant – Olympic rowing champion & Ambassador for The Rivers Trust
- Laura Reineke – local activist & Henley Mermaid
- Richard Caines – local river pollution campaigner & WWF International Director
- Dr Michelle Jackson – Oxford Associate Professor of Freshwater Ecology
The discussion will be chaired by Kate Lloyd, an experienced facilitator and panel host, and Greener Henley member.
Come along and join the conversation! Focusing on urgent concerns over our river – the precious ecosystem and habitat at the very heart of our community – we’ll discuss why the river is in such decline, why it matters, and what we can do as a community to bring it back from the brink.
