A special evening with photographer Alistair Morrison draws new audiences and vital support for Greener Henley

Greener Henley’s fundraiser, “A Life’s Journey Through Photography with Alistair Morrison”, lit up The Relais on 17th September with an evening full of stories, inspiration, and community spirit. More than 70 people came along to enjoy the event, the majority of whom were new to Greener Henley — a heartening sign that the charity’s message is reaching further than ever.

Internationally acclaimed photographer Alistair Morrison enchanted guests with highlights from his remarkable 40-year career, sharing portraits and personal stories of icons such as Margaret Thatcher, Julie Walters, and Kate Winslet. His mix of humour, honesty, and stunning images created an atmosphere that was both intimate and unforgettable.

Alongside his famous portraits, Alistair also shared insights into his “Time to Connect” series, exploring community, reflection and the passing of time.  He said:

“It was a privilege to be able to fundraise for Greener Henley.  In showing how my photography has evolved over 4 decades, it was a wonderful opportunity to introduce my Time to Connect project – photographing the Brits in all 100 Counties and creating an Arts Trail that celebrates our landscape and environment.”

Kate Oldridge, Executive Director of Greener Henley, said:

“We are deeply grateful to Alistair, as well as The Relais for generously providing the venue, and to everyone who came along. Thanks to your support, the event raised vital funds which will go directly toward Greener Henley’s work to make Henley safer in the face of climate impacts, cleaner by cutting pollution, and greener by restoring biodiversity.”

As a newly registered charity with big ambitions, Greener Henley relies on the power of local people coming together. Fundraisers like this not only raise essential funds but also build connections across the community.

Greener Henley would love to hear from anyone who would like to host or support future events. “Every contribution helps to restore and protect Henley’s natural world – creating a safer, cleaner and greener environment for our community — for now and for generations to come” said Kate Oldridge.
