DESCRIPTION:Sunday 7 December 2026\, 10 am\, Whitchurch-on-Thames. \nAndy Byfield\, one of Britain’s leading plant conservationists is working on a couple of local wild orchid projects\, and he has asked for help with some of the practical work. \nOn 7 December\, he would like help with raking leaves etc\, on the Lady Orchid site in Whitchurch. \nAndy will be there all day and volunteers are welcome to come along for just a couple of hours\, if they wish. \nWith luck\, he will show us the plants in flower next year. Merlin will show us some the grandest and strangest organisms ever discovered\, showcased through jaw-dropping time-lapse cinematography\, in a landscape largely unchanged from the time of the dinosaurs. Fungi have important lessons to teach humanity about survival through cooperation. Indeed\, these incredible lifeforms may hold the key to solving some of humanity’s most urgent problems.
