SUMMARY:Schools Environmental Science Challenge exhibition
DESCRIPTION:May 13th -19th we have the Old Fire Station Gallery to exhibit all the fantastic entries for this year’s Schools Environmental Science Challenge: “Stop! Look! Listen! Also we want some very special helpers on the 13th for setting up – and the 19th for dismantling the display. If you think this is something you would like to do to support Greener Henley\, please email greenerhenley@gmail.com and include your phone number.

SUMMARY:GBGW 2026 - Green Screen - David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet
DESCRIPTION:Green Screen – David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet\nThe Regal Picturehouse\, Henley-on-Thames – 7pm start\nWednesday 10th June 2026\nBOOK TICKETS \n\nDirector: Alastair Fothergill\, Jonathan Hughes\, Keith Scholey\nStars: Sir David Attenborough\, Max Hughes\nRunning time: 115 min\nCertificate: PG \n\n2026 sees the 100th year in the incredible life of national treasure Sir David Attenborough. Honest\, revealing and urgent\, A Life On Our Planet is Sir David’s witness statement and his vision for the future. Despite devastating changes wrought by humanity on the natural world\, his film carries a message of hope for future generations. \nAfter the film\, audiences will have the unique chance to watch a very special\, exclusive conversation between Sir David Attenborough and Sir Michael Palin. This will only be available in cinemas. \nA life On Our Planet has much to say about how our actions have been detrimental\, but its lessons are also about the myriad of solutions we should now pursue. In the words of Sir David\, “we need to learn how to work with nature rather than against it”. It is these solutions – and the choices we can collectively take now to secure a better future – that we will focus on during the panel discussion with audience Q&A after the film. \nWatch the trailer: \n \nPanel members: \n\nChair Sara Kandiah – Greener Henley Green Screen Coordinator Panelists:\nLiz Shearer – Community Engagement Director for BBOWT\nNicola Schafer -conservation film maker and co-founder of Watlington Climate Action\nand Stephanie Wilson– Senior Reserve Manager\, Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve with Natural England.\n\nMore about the panelists… \n\nStephanie Wilson: “As a Senior Reserve Manager\, I dedicate my career to habitat conservation and community engagement. My daily work balances hands-on land management—including the oversight of conservation grazing sheep flocks—with strategic collaboration alongside key partners and stakeholders. I’m passionate about connecting people to nature and enjoy delivering community engagement events. Together with a dedicated network of volunteers\, I work to protect our vital green spaces for future generations.” \n\nLiz Shearer \n\nLiz Shearer has worked with BBOWT since June 2015 and has had several different roles. She became Director of Community Engagement in January 2021. Liz is really interested in the impact of nature on people and how it improves so many facets of our wellbeing. She has worked in the public sector and charities for over twenty years\, working with a variety of audiences\, including those living in rural counties and London’s East End. \nLiz grew up in a farming family\, so was always outdoors from being very young\, which probably sparked her interest in nature. Her favourite wildlife spectacle is a starling murmuration. Liz loves to spend as much time outdoors as possible\, either walking or just reading in the garden. \n\n\nNicola Schafer\nNicola studied film as part of her degree at the University of Southampton and then spent time in marketing and product management roles before retraining as a photographer and then as a film-maker. Her film work includes independent documentaries such as “The Chalgrove Brook” about her local chalk stream\, and short films for organisations including Wild Oxfordshire\, Natural England\, Chilterns National Landscape and CPRE Oxfordshire. Nicola is co-chair of Watlington Climate Action Group and is on the Board of CAG Oxfordshire.\n\nSara Kandiah volunteers with Greener Henley and helped set up the Green Screen initiative with the Regal Picturehouse.
