Merlin will show us some the grandest and strangest organisms ever discovered\, showcased through jaw-dropping time-lapse cinematography\, in a landscape largely unchanged from the time of the dinosaurs. Fungi have important lessons to teach humanity about survival through cooperation. Indeed\, these incredible lifeforms may hold the key to solving some of humanity’s most urgent problems. My daily work balances hands-on land management—including the oversight of conservation grazing sheep flocks—with strategic collaboration alongside key partners and stakeholders. I’m passionate about connecting people to nature and enjoy delivering community engagement events. Together with a dedicated network of volunteers\, I work to protect our vital green spaces for future generations.” \n\nLiz Shearer\nLiz Shearer has worked with BBOWT since June 2015 and has had several different roles. She became Director of Community Engagement in January 2021. Liz is really interested in the impact of nature on people and how it improves so many facets of our wellbeing. She has worked in the public sector and charities for over twenty years\, working with a variety of audiences\, including those living in rural counties and London’s East End.\n\nLiz grew up in a farming family\, so was always outdoors from being very young\, which probably sparked her interest in nature. Her favourite wildlife spectacle is a starling murmuration. Liz loves to spend as much time outdoors as possible\, either walking or just reading in the garden. \n\n\nNicola Schafer\nNicola studied film as part of her degree at the University of Southampton and then spent time in marketing and product management roles before retraining as a photographer and then as a film-maker. Her film work includes independent documentaries such as “The Chalgrove Brook” about her local chalk stream\, and short films for organisations including Wild Oxfordshire\, Natural England\, Chilterns National Landscape and CPRE Oxfordshire. Nicola is co-chair of Watlington Climate Action Group and is on the Board of CAG Oxfordshire.\n\nSara Kandiah volunteers with Greener Henley and helped set up the Green Screen initiative with the Regal Picturehouse.
