Henley is working to become a more prepared and resilient community – and that starts with making a plan, and keeping a hard copy somewhere easy to find.
Nobody likes to think about things going wrong, but the disruptions facing our community are increasing. From flooding and extreme heat to power cuts or supply shortages, unexpected events can affect anyone – and having a plan in place can make a real difference. Being prepared helps us stay calm in a crisis and recover more quickly afterwards.
Resilience isn’t just for government emergency planners. It’s something every organisation – every business, sports club, school, community group and place of worship – can build for the short and long-term. Greener Henley has developed an Organisational Resilience Plan template to help organisations to make a start. For organisations, planning ahead helps keep essential services and community support running when people need them most, and sets in place systems to stay operating when disruption strikes.
For households, a resilience plan could simply mean knowing who to contact, where to go, or what to do in the first few hours of an emergency.
